Picking clip moments: a method
A method for finding clip-worthy moments in a long episode. It's a working process, not a rule backed by platform data.
Read before you watch
Skim the transcript for passages that make sense with no setup. If a moment needs 30 seconds of context, it usually isn't a clip.
Look for four kinds of moment
- A story with a beginning and a turn.
- A clear opinion someone could agree or argue with.
- A direct answer to a question people search for.
- A reaction: surprise, laughter, a disagreement between hosts.
Trim to the line that lands
Start as close to the first strong line as you can, and end on the payoff rather than the wind-down.
Check the limits
Make sure the cut fits the platforms you post to: see the specs table. To see which hooks advertisers in this space keep running, look at what podcast-clipping ads say.
